Hong Kong plans to boost public housing with larger flats in Northern Metropolis,Secretary for Housing Winnie Ho Wing-yin announced . Flats will be 10 percent bigger. Larger units will now make up 25 percent of public rental and subsidized housing.
In interview,Ho spoke about integrating over 30 estates with environment,heritage and tech. It's part of a broader vision for Northern Metropolis,first revealed in 2021. Goal: turn 30,000 hectares near China border into bustling economic,residential hub .
Ho touted Northern Metropolis benefits,saying,“If you want quality of life,healthy lifestyle with hiking trail nearby,then Northern Metropolis is the answer.” Jobs will come with tech hub,university town. Students might snag industry jobs before graduating.
