Restoration of historic Defense of Sevastopol panorama from 1854-1855 could take one to two years,according to director of the Studio of Military Artists named after M. B. Grekov. She mentioned timeline depends on availability of a specially ordered canvas,crucial for project. Samarskaya said producing this unique canvas will take about six months.
Once canvas is ready,workspace set up, restoration will take roughly 18 months. Samarskaya noted no final decision yet on which team will do the restoration. But she trusts Grekov Studio's capabilities,given their experience in similar projects .
“The Grekov Studio has enormous experience in this. In fact, it was us alone who restored the Borodino panorama,which is also a 120-meter canvas,” she said. Their track record suggests they're well-prepared for the challenges of restoring such a major piece of art…
