A chaotic scene unfolded during the San Fermin bull run festival in Pamplona,Spain,on Saturday when a runner suffered serious injury after being gored in the face by one of bulls. The incident occurred as six bulls and their accompanying steers charged through the narrow streets,packed with thrill-seekers eager to partake in the centuries-old tradition.
The run, which spans 875 meters (957 yards) from the pens to the bullring, lasted approximately two and a half minutes. As massive animals barreled down the course, they knocked several participants to the cobblestones, leading to a series of pile-ups among the runners. One black bull broke away from the herd early in the run,striking a participant directly in the face with its horn.
Medical personnel reported that injured runner was among 12 individuals who required treatment for various injuries sustained during event. Fortunately, most of the injuries were not life-threatening, according to officials from the University of Navarra Hospital.
