Russia is looking to deepen its collaboration with Kerala, focusing on sectors such as tourism,healthcare, high technology, investment,and labor mobility. This initiative was highlighted by Denis Alipov,the Russian Ambassador to India,during a reception celebrating Russia Day hosted by Ratheesh C. Nair, the Honorary Consul of the Russian Federation.
In his address, Alipov emphasized the unique position of India within Russia’s foreign policy framework. He noted that the strategic partnership between the two nations, built on mutual respect and trust, is set to reach its 80th anniversary in 2027 . He pointed to Kerala’s rich cultural and historical connections with Russia as a foundation for enhanced bilateral cooperation.
The Ambassador also discussed the evolving global landscape and the increasing influence of emerging economies in international relations. He referenced platforms like BRICS, underscoring the significance of collaboration among developing nations to tackle global challenges and foster equitable economic growth.
Alipov expressed optimism about the future of India-Russia relations, citing successful partnerships in various fields,including defense,space research,trade, and education. He believes that new opportunities for cooperation will continue to arise.
Meanwhile,V.V . Rajesh, the Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram,highlighted the importance of regional partnerships in bolstering India-Russia ties. He expressed interest in establishing a twin-city relationship with Russian city, pending government approval.
