Shanaya Kapoor showcased a striking silver gown at her latest appearance,a creation that took an impressive 800 hours to complete. Designed by Bhawna Rao, gown blends the elegance of a cocktail lehenga with the sophistication of a gown, crafted from Italian tulle.
The design features bustier-like bodice and a high-waisted skirt, presenting a seamless silhouette that captures the essence of traditional Indian wear while incorporating elements suitable for red-carpet events. Rao's latest collection, titled Oblique, draws inspiration from the tranquility found in self-reflection, as articulated by the designer.
Rao elaborated on the gown's intricate craftsmanship, noting that it is entirely hand-embellished with Swarovski crystals, glass crystals, and detailed beadwork . “Twinkling strands of glass beads are placed across the surface like streams of light,” she explained. The layered formations of bugle beads and premium Japanese beads reflect the fluidity of thoughts and emotions. Additionally, motifs inspired by fragmented glass symbolize themes of reinvention and growth, while multidimensional embroidery patterns represent the evolving versions of oneself.
To complement her gown, Kapoor opted for minimal accessories, wearing only diamond earrings that allowed the dress to take center stage. Her beauty look was equally understated, featuring soft curls, nude lips, flushed cheeks, and smoky eyes, enhancing the gown's striking appearance.
The gown's design process spanned two months, focusing on elongating the frame and accentuating waist. This meticulous attention to detail not only highlights Kapoor's fashion sense but also showcases Rao's artistry in creating garments that blend traditional and contemporary styles.
