The Karnataka Common Entrance Test (CET) - 2026 results revealed big shift in academic rankings . State board Pre-University college students took most top spots. Announced Saturday,results showed sharp change from past years when CBSE students often led the list .
This year,9 of top 10 in engineering came from state board colleges. They dominated other fields too: 8 of top 10 in B.V.Sc. (Veterinary Science),9 in B.Sc. (Agriculture),and 8 each in Nursing and Yoga & Naturopathy. In B-Pharm and Pharma-D,7 top rankers were from state board schools. In engineering,81 of top 100 were from state boards,up from 2025 when CBSE students held seven of top ten spots.
CBSE students' drop in CET rankings matches their Class 12 results,which fell to 83.29% from 88.39% last year. This shift impacted CET results: 92,782 out of 2.92 lakh test-takers became eligible for professional courses. Specifically,2,82,603 qualified for engineering,while 2,09,220 were eligible for B.Sc . (Agriculture).
Among stars,Tanisha Karthik from R.V. PU College topped engineering with 99.44%. Nayana Gopi of BASE PU College topped five streams,including B.V.Sc. and B.Sc.-Nursing,with perfect 100%. Ninaad Vasisht from R.V . PU College excelled in B.Sc. (Agriculture),scoring 98.75%.
June 10,2026: Dr. Sharan Prakash Patil,Medical Education Minister,said CET-2026 counseling starts then. He noted NEET results delay won't hold up counseling . "We'll conduct counseling for other courses before NEET," he said . A new pre-round system lets candidates accept seats or join later rounds if they want.
