In wake of recent passing of Iran's supreme leader,a wave of mourning has swept through the streets of the capital. For three days, thousands of citizens have gathered in Tehran to honor the memory of the late Ali Khamenei. These mourners have filled the city's main avenues and squares, with many setting out from a major religious center where Khamenei and family members are laid to rest.
Along the route,numerous tents have been erected to distribute sustenance at no cost to attendees. Additionally, various memorabilia,including images of Khamenei and his successor,Mojtaba Khamenei,are being offered. The atmosphere is deeply poignant, as individuals from different age groups,including families with young children and older citizens, participate in the processions.
To alleviate oppressive heat, volunteers are actively spraying water to provide some respite from the sun's rays . Emergency personnel,including ambulances and law enforcement,are present to ensure safety and well-being of those in attendance .
The memorial events for Khamenei began on July 3 and witnessed the participation of dignitaries from over 100 nations on the inaugural day . His remains are set to stay at the religious center until July 5, offering public a chance to express their condolences . A procession will then navigate through Tehran's major streets on July 6,followed by transfer of the remains to Qom for additional ceremonies on July 7.
After the events in Qom,Khamenei’s body will be moved to neighboring Iraq on July 8,where further farewell rituals will occur in the revered Shiite cities of Karbala and Najaf. final mourning service is anticipated to take place on July 9 in his birthplace of Mashhad.
