The Tirupati district police have taken decisive action to uphold public safety in temple town of Tirumala by invoking Preventive Detention (PD) Act against a habitual offender. individual, identified as Gogula Kotaiah,also known as Koti, is just 22 years old and has been accused of repeatedly coercing devotees,disrupting public peace,and even attacking law enforcement and personnel from Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).
This move follows a thorough proposal from L . Subbarayudu, the District Superintendent of Police, which outlined Kotaiah's extensive criminal history. After reviewing the case,the District Collector and District Magistrate determined that his ongoing activities posed a significant threat to safety of pilgrims and the overall public order in the area.
In response to the detention orders, police transported Kotaiah to Kadapa Central prison. Authorities emphasized that this preventive measure is part of a larger initiative to maintain the sanctity of Tirumala,ensuring that devotees can engage in their spiritual practices without fear of intimidation. The police reiterated their commitment to preserving peace and security in the temple town,underscoring the importance of a tranquil environment for all visitors .
