Revised Budget by Chief Minister V.D . Satheesan has sparked sharp criticism from Communist Party of India (CPI). State Secretary Binoy Viswam said it's a clear departure from welfare initiatives of previous Left Democratic Front government. At a press conference Friday,Viswam warned that Budget paints state as trapped in debt crisis.
Viswam stressed that proposed changes to State Planning Board mark a worrying shift from planning principles that have long guided Kerala's economic strategy, rooted in Nehruvian model. He claimed this could threaten state's development path and erode welfare policies benefiting many residents.
Critics fear new administration's approach may cut essential services, leaving vulnerable populations at risk. Viswam's comments show broader unease within CPI about social welfare's future in Kerala. party aims to rally public support against what it sees as regressive economic policies…but will it succeed?
