Recent enforcement operation saw traffic police in Hyderabad,Cyberabad and Malkajgiri nab 858 motorists for driving drunk . Serious road safety worries continue to haunt region.
Hyderabad alone registered 422 cases in two-day initiative on June 5 and 6. Meanwhile,Cyberabad Traffic Police reported 284 arrests,and Malkajgiri booked 152 motorists during special drive from May 31 to June 6.
All caught will face court proceedings. Authorities stressed seriousness of drunk driving,warning those in fatal crashes could face severe legal consequences. Under Section 105 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita,offenders may be charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder — up to 10 years prison and heavy fines.
