20-year-old nursing student, Anjali Modi, reportedly took her own life in Porbandar . Her partner, Rishik Chauhan,now faces charges of abetment. It happened June 23. Anjali was found hanging at home. Family alleges Chauhan withheld their marriage certificate,causing deep distress.
Police in Kamalabaug first registered it as accidental death. But after complaint from Anjali's father,Ashok Modi, focus shifted to Chauhan . Arrested Friday evening,presented in court. Remanded to jail.
Anjali,also interning at private hospital,married Chauhan in court July 8, 2025. Family says she asked him for certificate,again and again. Investigators found WhatsApp messages from Anjali,desperate,saying she'd take her life if certificate wasn't given . She even sent videos to Chauhan,showing arm injuries. Her mental state was clear.
