Strong winds tore roof off a school building in Thannithodu on Sunday, narrowly avoiding a major disaster. The incident took place at approximately 12:30 p.m. at St . Benedict MSC High School,where gusty conditions stripped the entire roof from the second floor of a classroom block.
Fortunately,the school was closed for day,and no students or staff were present at the time, preventing what could have been catastrophic event. The affected section of the building contained at least two Class 10 divisions and a staff room. dislodged roof was carried by the winds and landed on unoccupied house nearby,resulting in no injuries.
Initial assessments revealed that school had passed a fitness inspection prior to the reopening of educational institutions. In light of the extensive damage, local authorities have initiated an investigation to ascertain the cause of incident. As the community reflects on close call,the focus now shifts to ensuring the safety and integrity of school facilities in the area.
