Hyderabad authorities seized around 90 tonnes of illegal chicken waste June 8 during a coordinated crackdown on transport of material meant for fish feed. Operation was carried out by Hyderabad City Police Food Adulteration Surveillance Team (H-FAST) with Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
Raids hit multiple spots: Amberpet,Kulsumpura,Attapur,Rajendranagar. Officials seized seven vehicles allegedly transporting poultry waste without permits. Investigators found operators collecting waste from various poultry and meat shops across Hyderabad,skipping the Chengicherla rendering facility.
Illegal transport headed to several locations: Bhimavaram,Eluru,Bheemadolu,Undi in West Godavari district, plus Mall in Nalgonda district. Waste reportedly meant for commercial fish ponds,tanks — big public health worry.
Legal action underway against those involved,cases filed at respective police stations. After seizure,GHMC veterinary officials disposed of chicken waste per protocol . Deputy Commissioner of Police,Task Force,Hyderabad oversaw operation,with H-FAST officers and GHMC veterinary doctors involved.
